At the end of April, staff from the municipal parks department planted a field maple on the Path of the Trees of the Year in Bocholt. The field maple is the Tree of the Year 2015. Pieron GmbH is the tree’s sponsor.
Gisela Pieron, shareholder of Pieron, and managing director Christian Fehler were invited to this year’s planting as the tree’s sponsors. City planning officer Ulrich Paßlick thanked the company: “Through your sponsorship, you show your ties to your home town, to nature and to the environment.” This year’s Tree of the Year, the field maple, can live for up to 150 years and flowers in May and June. Birds like to use its dense crown for nesting or cover. “We simply want to give something back,” emphasised Christian Fehler. “We benefit from the high quality of life in the city and want to help keep it attractive.”
