Torsion springs from Pieron – FAQ

What is a torsion spring?

A torsion spring is a mechanical spring wound from wire that is used to store and transmit torque. It is often used in applications that require a restoring force or controlled movement. Torsion springs can be loaded in both the closing and opening direction and are available in various forms, including leg springs and double torsion springs.

A torsion spring works on the principle of twisting the wire. Under load, the spring stores energy that is released again when the load is removed. The legs of the spring transmit the torque to adjacent components. PIERON optimises this principle through exact calculation, precise CNC coiling and custom designs to ensure optimal performance under a wide range of load and application profiles.

At PIERON, a torsion spring is manufactured in several steps. PIERON uses high-quality materials such as spring steel, stainless steel and special alloys, depending on the application and the requirements for corrosion resistance or strength. CNC-controlled machines coil the wire with high precision, processing a wide range of dimensions from very small to large wire diameters to meet a wide variety of customer requirements. Optimised heat treatment processes reduce stresses to guarantee durability and reliable restoring forces. PIERON offers a range of surface coatings, such as galvanising, phosphating, powder coating or individual painting, to increase corrosion and wear resistance. Every spring is tested for functionality and quality to ensure compliance with the highest quality standards and to meet our customers’ expectations.

In addition to standard solutions, PIERON also manufactures complex special solutions tailored specifically to customer requirements. These include, for example, torsion springs with variable coil diameters or combined leg shapes. State-of-the-art manufacturing techniques and quality controls make it possible to cover a wide range of wire diameters and a great variety of spring diameters. This allows us to produce both very small, delicate torsion springs and robust industrial ones. The choice of high-quality, specialised materials, including corrosion-resistant stainless steels and special alloys, allows use in demanding environments. PIERON relies on continuous research and development, combining traditional expertise with modern technologies to offer innovative solutions that meet the latest technical standards.
