PIERON wave springs – FAQ
A wave spring is a special type of compression springcharacterized by its space-saving design . Compared to conventional round wire springs, a wave spring requires only about half the installation space – while still absorbing high forces. Thanks to its compact design, the wave spring is ideal for applications where space is limited but maximum forces must still be absorbed.
Wave springs make optimal use of the combination of flat-rolled wire and wave-shaped coils. This allows wave springs to be designed to offer maximum performance with minimal installation space. Developers benefit from the ability to create small, high-performance designs with wave-springs – ideal for miniature components and precision mechanics.
Depending on the area of application, different raw materials are selected for the production of wave springs. PIERON processes flat wires made of unalloyed and alloyed carbon steel as well as stainless steels (e.g., NIROSTA). Materials made of non-ferrous metals are also available for special requirements. Minimum order quantities may apply for individually rolled cross-sections, especially if the wave spring is to be specially adapted to a particular application.
PIERON wave springs undergo precise setting and testing proceduresprocedures to ensure high stability. Many production steps are fully automated and integrated into the manufacturing process to guarantee consistently high quality. This ensures the wave spring remains stable even under continuous load and provides reliable wave spring action throughout its entire service life.
Pieron also consistently follows its zero-defect strategy in the production of wave springs. Each wave spring is inspected, cleaned, and, if necessary, provided in special packaging that enables automated further processing. On request, we offer additional surface finishes to further optimize the service life and friction behavior of the wave springs.
Wave springs are widely used, especially in the automotive sector . Wave springs are the solution wherever installation space is limited and high forces need to be absorbed or precise movements controlled.
