Pieron and Siemens are very family-friendly
"BAFF" for four Bocholt companies
Because of their flexible labour time and because of the high engagement in the health-sector Pieron received – in the category with 250 or more employees – (beside the Siemens AG) the Bocholter honour “BAFF”.
Pieron GmbH and Siemens AG received the first-ever "Bocholt Award for Family Friendliness", or BAFF for short, at a ceremony in the Historic Town Hall. In the category of 20 to 250 employees, the company, which is managed by Gisela Pieron in a "personal and family-oriented" manner, stood out in particular for its flexible working time models. For example, flexible daily and weekly working hours are possible in the commercial area, where many women are employed. Individual working time arrangements are made for single parents. And in manufacturing, too, solutions are sought on a case-by-case basis when employees cannot be fully available due to family bottlenecks.
In addition, the company's high level of commitment to the health of its employees was praised; there is a fitness room and fruit baskets for free service. Laudator Peter Nebelo, Mayor of Bocholt, found it remarkable that the Alliance for the Family, which BAFF had proclaimed, achieved two applications at once: one from the works council and one from a member of the company advisory board.
In the category with more than 250 employees, Siemens AG Mechanical Drives landed in first place. The company founded a company kindergarten, which will start operating in the summer.
It is planned that children from zero to twelve years of age will be supervised in the new building, especially during the vacations. The various working time models that enable employees to organize their lives in a more family-friendly way were also praised, as was the health working group that proposes and implements health-promoting measures. In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Henner Henze from Münster University of Applied Sciences made it clear that family-friendliness is not just a fashion that costs money: "Those who sleep through the times will be punished by the labor market," was his clear message.
